HTC ThunderBolt News: Lucky punter gets hands-on, plus video

We’ve been constantly updating our readers with news of the much-awaited HTC ThunderBolt coming to Verizon. This is the first 4G phone for the Verizon LTE network and so has caused a lot of excitement but we’ve also reported on the many release delays causing frustration. Now we’ve heard that as the rest of us wait eagerly to get our hands on it, one lucky guy has just had a hands-on look at the phone.

There has been such a lot said about the release delays for this handset that we published a release rumor roundup to give people all the details. The most likely release date now seems to be March 10 but as always this is still not confirmed. At the weekend we told how in fact the phone was ready to go but that that HTC is getting pretty upset with Verizon for the way the company has handled the release. Meanwhile Phil Nickinson over on Android Central, tells how one of their lucky forum members was surprised to see the ThunderBolt at a weekend event.

It seems the person concerned, ibejack96, was using a designated cell phone area sponsored by Verizon at a golf tournament this weekend. Verizon was showing some of its wares and one of the reps produced the HTC ThunderBolt. The forum member then not only got a hands-on but also took a video, which you can see below this story. The Verizon rep was asked when the phone would be released and said she still didn’t know but that it should have been out already and also said she thought the delay may have been down to battery life issues because of the LTE data.

If you want to find out more about the ThunderBolt with it’s 4.3-inch screen and 8-megapixel camera running on Android 2.2 plus HTC Sense, then check out the HTC product page here.
