Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 Thumb Drive: Price An Issue?

When looking at storage space what do you look for? Do you look for the most space for the cheapest price, how rugged the device is or if it matches in with your funky style? There are many different reasons that people choose specific devices but what about one that is future proof?

The Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 Thumb Drive is certainly future proof for now anyway as it uses USB 3.0 ports however is the price an issue with this device? This one was shown off at CeBIT 2011 in Germany by the manufacturing company Patriot. It’s the first high capacity USB 3.0 flash drive featuring eight channel technology meaning you can get up to 200MB per second reads and 110MB per second write.

In the report over at Hexus.net they are reporting on the little device that features 128GB of storage but the speeds mean that a potential 100 GB download would only take you around the 10 minute marker which is pretty impressive wouldn’t you say?

As things stand we don’t have an official release date or a price but as they say in the report it surely won’t come cheap. Check out the video over at Hexus that explains about the new Patriot device but also about another one that has been showcased at the event.

How much do you think a flash drive of this capacity will cost when it is released? Let us know in the comments section below.
