Sony PSP Go: Price Drop – Will It Affect The 3DS Sales?

In recent times Sony has been very clever in bridging the gap between now and the release of their new beast like handheld console the NGP. First we saw them reduce the price of the PSP-3000 but now we are hearing that they have dropped the price of the PSP Go to $150, we are wondering how this will affect the 3DS and its sales.

As we already reported, that the sales have been pretty solid in Japan for the 3DS and also that there will be two UK game retailers that will hold midnight releases on March 24th. Perhaps some of the people going to those retailers will change their mind about which console they will be picking up that very night when they see the price tag on the PSP Go and the PSP-3000.

Most of you will know the differences between this device and the other PSP ones, but for those of you who don’t there are a few you should know about. For starters the PSP Go’s screen slides up to reveal the buttons beneath, then there’s the fact that it doesn’t use the UMDs. Some people like (like me) like the fact that you have a solid game that you can put in the device and take out; instead it stores them on its 16GB hard drive.

Other differences are shown over at the PlayStation website; some of them include the fact that it is 43% smaller than the original model, it has Bluetooth and it also has Skype built in with lots of multimedia capabilities. To be honest, the only downside to the PSP Go is the fact that it doesn’t have a removable battery, which means if it ever becomes dead completely as in will not charge you have to result to surgery on the little device.

Will you be picking up a new PSP Go or are you going with the 3DS or waiting for the NGP? Let us know in the comments section below.
