Apple iPad 2 March Shipments Rocket: 2 To 3 Million Expected

It seems that Apple have different thoughts to most when it comes to the predicted sales of its new iPad 2. Initial reports favored a lower number of unit sales for Q2 2011, possibly due to the fact that the second-generation tablet lacked features that didn’t appear.

However in a report by Slashgear, Apple’s estimations equate to an expected shipment figure of up to 12 million units in Q2 of this year.

It was suggested that due to the fact Apple ran down stocks of the original iPad in February on the run up to the iPad 2’s announcement, the company expected to ship 2-3 million iPad 2 tablets this month alone. With high anticipation for the device before the Apple event, demand could be higher than supply, especially with a white version of the tablet being available from the start.

Apple Insider gave a comparison to sales of the first iPad from April to December last year where consumers demand for the device brought sales of 15 million units and a revenue figure of $9.5 billion.

If the Steve Jobs team manage to hit their anticipated figures then a target of 40 million iPads could be seen for 2011. Are you one of the statistics waiting the release date of March 11? What was it that drew you towards Apple’s latest tablet device?
