iPad 2 Release Plus: Sold by Best Buy, Walmart & Sam’s Club

Since yesterday’s official announcement of the iPad 2 at a special Apple event, attended by Steve Jobs despite his illness, we’ve told how the release date will be on March 11 in the U.S. Now we have some more news as it looks as though the iPad 2 will also be available for sale at Walmart, Best Buy and Sam’s Club too.

Among the many articles we’ve already published about the iPad 2 are that there will be a white version, a tablet war story, news on specs and pricing and the fact that rumors of an iPad 3 release in the fall could have been scuppered by the iPad 2 unveiling. In our article that listed release date information we told how the iPad 2 was not available for pre-order but would be available to order online on March 11 with free shipping, or to buy at Apple retail stores for release on the same day.

However the news that some major large retailers will also be selling the device on the release date of March 11 too, should please an awful lot of people. Best Buy had already confirmed this and then Seth Weintraub over on 9to5Mac, noted that Walmart and Sam’s Club would also be carrying the next-generation iPad at launch too and that iPad 2 SKU numbers are already listed in the store inventories.

If you want to take a look at more information about the latest iPad, which we feel is a pretty impressive device, then head to the iPad 2 product pages at Apple.com here. Will you be running down to Best Buy on release day for your iPad 2, or maybe you prefer the Apple experience on a launch day? Let us know with your comments.
