Have you ever wondered where the world’s rudest city resides? Well we can now tell you that it is in fact Manchester in England! What the guys on the Foursquare blog did is they actually measured the number of curse words that featured in their database using SQL.
Chris Matyszczyk of CNET is also reporting on the data that has been released by Foursquare. He says that engineer that posted the article on the Foursquare blog is a proud midlander and explains that Foursquare is trying to make sense of the data that it has residing in its database. Check out the chart below.
As you can see Manchester is just ahead of El Paso but we are still a little surprised that Manchester has topped the charts and that certain other cities aren’t in there such as Glasgow and Paris but you have to wonder what curse words were used in the table that stores them. The code they used was also released on the blog and you can see this below.
The only other thing to take into account here is that the cities measured are English speaking which rules out Paris but not Glasgow. It’s also important to remember that the guys pulling this data are only doing it for a bit of fun so this should be taken with good humor.
What do you think of Manchester topping the charts? Are you as surprised as we are? Let us know in the comments section below.
