Apple iPad 2: What About RAM & Thunderbolt Peripherals?

Ok, we are hoping that you have all calmed down a little since the showcasing of the Apple iPad 2 because we want to bring something to your attention that you may not have noticed as we were all still amazed at Steve Jobs taking to the stage for to talk about their new products.

Whilst we have seen that it has had a re-design, it has the ARM Cortex A5 processor inside and it comes in black and white, we still haven’t heard whether or not it has the new Thunderbolt peripheral or how much RAM this bad boy is hiding.

You would think looking at the other specifications that are present such as the dual-core processor and at the competitors around that it would be between 512MB and 1GB, but from the videos the performance looks pretty good. This makes us at OSM think that it is perhaps running on 1GB of RAM or maybe they will come out and surprise us all and say more!

The other thing that we previously speculated about is the new Thunderbolt connection that is on the latest MacBooks, we were wondering if this would be a feature on the new iPad. The fact that it wasn’t mentioned at the Apple keynote kind of says that it’s not present but we know RAM is incorporated and that wasn’t mentioned either. As soon as the finer details are released we will inform you all.

If you want to see a demonstration video of the iPad 2 then head over to Gizmodo where they are shown an app for playing musical instruments as well as a the one, the only Angry Birds!

How much RAM do you think is present in the iPad 2? Do you think the Thunderbolt peripheral will be there? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

It should have at least 1GB RAM, otherwise, it's behind the competition.
