New Design For The Apple iPad 2 – Do You Like It?

So we have just heard that the iPad 2 will be making its way onto the scene on March 11th and with the new tablet comes a completely new design. We have also seen that it won’t only be coming in its standard black encasement but instead you will have a choice of black or white!

The original iPad was a revolutionary device that took the dead tablet PC market and turned it into a massively profitable one, only Apple could do that. This has since prompted lots of different manufacturers to try and break into that market by releasing their own machines.

As we know the Motorola Xoom is now on the market but now the iPad 2 is on its way perhaps this will become a forgotten device as the pricing on the iPad 2 is pretty competitive to say the least (check the image below for their pricing options).

Included in the design are video cameras, it’s 33% thinner than the original iPad and has a sleek sexy design, the original iPad was 13.4mm thick, the iPad 2 is just 8.8mm thick. Even though they have added more things to the device they have also managed to reduce its weight from 1.5 pounds to 1.3 pounds. To keep the weight down we thought that they may have reduced the battery life but that is not the case, it has the same 10-hour battery life. Check out below, we have added a few images from the live blog over at Engadget.

What do you think of the design? Do you prefer this or the old one? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

the old design is so much more streamlined and cleaner. I really like the edges on the old design. I hate the sloped edges on the ipad2. the headphone jack is also really sloped. The old design had way more quality than this one. man, what a disappointment.

I prefer the old design as well as it feels solid and looks more related to a macbook/iphone 4, and the ipad 2 resembles an ipod touch! Also, the iPad 2 doesn't really offer much improved features except for facetime/skype cameras… it's not bad but I will wait for ipad 3 which will hopefully have at least 1280 x 800 resolution… not holding my breath for retina on iPad 3, besides, all those pixels on a 9.7 inch screen makes no sense. Maybe on a 12 inch iPad 😉
