iPad 2 Release Imminent: Online Apple Store Down

We’re getting very excited here at OSM as the big Apple iPad 2 event that’s expected to unveil the iPad 2 is only a couple of hours away. We also told how we thought it was possible that the iPad 2 release would be very shortly after the event, even though there are usually a few weeks or months in between. Now we have great news that seems to back that up as the online Apple Store has now gone down.

We’ve already given you details of live blogs and times for the event so if you don’t want to miss a thing check it out at the link and we also speculated on whether Steve Jobs may be able to attend and whether this would take the focus away from the iPad 2 itself. Some of you may not understand quite why the online Apple Store going down has excited us so much so let me explain more.

When Apple is about to release a new product, (not just for an announcement), the Apple Store is out-of-action for a few hours as they update the product information and lo and behold when it comes online again the new product is there in all its gleaming glory. The ever-reliable Zach Epstein over on BGR brought our attention to the Store going down and said it occurred around 10am ET and is not expected to go back up until AFTER the official event which starts at 10am PT, or 1am ET.

Of course we’ll be bringing you all the news from the Apple event and you can also check out the Apple Store for yourselves at the link so you can see when it is up-and-running again. Are you on the edge of your seats waiting for the iPad 2? Let us have your comments please.
