Another Android Tablet: Gigabyte GN-Tb100 Joins Party

In the impending war that seems to be raging in the Tablet PC world everyone is looking to provide the next alternative to Apple’s iPad, hoping to be the one to do this another Android Tablet has just joined the party, make way for the Gigabyte GN-TB100.

Although not equipped with the nicest of names this device is hoping to set some hearts racing, Gigabyte who normally spends their time building graphic cards and motherboards decided it was about time that they dip their toe in the pool of Tablets, and have created a great looking touch screen device.

According to this post from Ubergizmo.com this device houses some pretty great specs, these include a 10.1inch display (with a higher resolution than the iPad), 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and 512MB/1GB of RAM. You can see a demo of this in the video below.

In this video the device is only running on Android 2.2, but when it’s released in July it should be shipped with the update and be running on 3.0 Honeycomb. The biggest downside to this prototype according to Liliputing.com is the size of the screen bezel, which seems to take up quite a lot of space on the display.

Even though this is just a prototype if the company can redesign the screen bezel and ships it with the updated Android OS we think they could be onto a winner, there is no word on cost yet but we expect to see a pretty competitive price tag to follow in the next few months.

What are your thoughts on this tablet? Is it a possible iPad alternative?
