UK Motorola WiFi-Only Xoom £450 Price: Cheaper Than 32GB iPad

One of the biggest iPad contenders which will no doubt come out of this year, will be that of the Motorola Xoom. The tablet running on Android’s Honeycomb 3.0 OS, has had its fair share of positive and negative feedback. Whilst the tablet packs a fantastic listing of specifications, it has had to fight off criticism regarding the “non-introduction” of support for flash content, something of which Adobe has promised in the coming weeks. Coupled with this, the pricing has been a topic of discussion, with many saying it is far too expensive.

If, for many of you the price has been the deciding factor when thinking about what tablet to buy, then news in today may help in your decision process. Vlad Savov at Engadget has reported on a UK retailer listing the Xoom on their pre-order page for a fantastic price of £450 ($730). If you are wondering who we are talking about, its PC World. Take a look at the image below. News from Slashgear has indicated that rivals Carphone Warehouse have managed to secure a deal with the 3G Xoom model.

On comparison to Apple’s current 32GB WiFi only iPad, the Xoom will be retailing at £60 less than its competitor, which in this day and age is a significant saving. As engadget stated, the only downside to the Xoom is that its only offered as a 32GB model and nothing more.

If after looking at this, you’re bursting to get your hands on one of these, and you head on over to the pre-order page to basket your tablet, you may be met with a problem, as its been reported that the “pre-order today” button may be suffering from a small technical glitch, something of which will no doubt get rectified soon.

Let us know are you in the market for a Xoom, or are you a big Apple fan? Are you waiting on news following on from Apple’s iPad 2 event tomorrow?
