Malaysia Airlines “MHbuddy App” Checks-In With Facebook

For many, online social networking site Facebook which initially launched in 2004 and to date sees some 600 million users, is a great communication tool for many people. It serves as a way to message your friends and loved ones, keep others informed of what you are doing via status updates, upload photos, join groups of interest and so on. So how does today’s news with Malaysian airlines tie in with the biggest networking site?

News has come through of a new app named “Mhbuddy” which with the collaboration of Facebook will now aid people to search Malaysia Airline flight times as well as booking and checking of any updates. Along with this, the app will give you accessibility to find out whether any of your friends live in the city you are travelling to, as well as giving you the option of finding out as businesstraveller.com stated whether anyone else is flying at the same time as you. Options will then be given to you whether you would like to book a seat next to your friend.

As independent.co.uk reported, Malaysia airlines is not the first to take up this new idea, in the past Delta and AirAsia airlines have too joined forces with Facebook allowing passengers to access flight information.

In a statement from Malaysia Airlines “Dr Amin Khan” it was said, “Our passengers are spending more and more time using social networks and Malaysia Airlines is one of the most active airlines on social media including Facebook and Twitter. With Mhbuddy we are pleased to provide our fans on social media an easy way to book a ticket without having to leave Facebook.”

Tell us what you think about the new app, a good or bad idea? Is it something that other airlines should consider doing?
