HP Pavilion dv6t & dv7t Quad Editions: High specs, good price

Earlier this month we gave you some news that HP Pavilion dv6 and dv7 version notebooks were on the way. Now we hear that the HP online store is ready to go with the dv6 and dv7, both with quad-core CPUs, and both available starting at prices of $999.99 and $1099.99 respectively.

To give them their full titles from the HP online store, you’ll find the HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition Series and the HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition Series. These are definitely high-end laptops with a lot to offer to the discerning buyer. Not only do both devices now feature the quad-core Core i7 processors but they both also feature 1GB Mobility Radeon HD 6570 graphics chips from AMD.

Vlad Savov over on Engadget notes that the larger dv7t with a 17.3-inch screen may disappoint slightly with its resolution of 1600 x 900 but we’d have to point out that taking that aside, this is a lot of machine for the money. Apparently there’s also a $150 instant rebate available and memory and hard drive upgrades up for grabs.

If you’re still wondering if one of these is for you there’s an interesting article by Peter Chubb over on Product Reviews, which is a comparison of the dv6 and dv7 against the latest MacBook Pro 2011 line and tells how specs-wise they’re pretty similar and it may just come down to price being the deciding factor. We’ve also put a video of the dv6 and dv7 below this story. What are your thoughts on the dv6 and dv7? Let us know with your comments.
