Apple Ends Sales Before iPad 2 Release?

For the last few months, news of Apple’s next generation iPad has been the talk of the tech world. Rumors have been rife as to what the device will cram in with regards to specifications, what it may look like, price and of course the big question of its release date? With just over a day to go until March 2 when Apple’s event is scheduled to take place, yet more news has filtered through.

Here at OSM we gave you an update of the official event which will be taking place at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Shortly after what will no doubt be one of the biggest announcements of this year, the next generation iPad or iPad 2 if you wish, will be ready to order, or will it? Over at AppleInsider it has been noted that according to one wall street analyst, iPad 2 units may be limited due to the new thin glass display experiencing “yield issues.” Click here for more details.

Over at Slashgear, it has been reported that many Apple resellers have been told that the first iPad has been restricted in numbers, this includes iPad models from 16GB WiFi upwards with a notice of “Constrained No ETA,” right through to iPad 64GB 3G “Constrained No ETA.” This could mean that any iPads seen on shelves will be the last of the bunch as it were, until an announcement has been made on Wednesday.

The advice for anyone wishing to get their hands on one of these is to act quickly as existing iPads will no doubt sell out today or tomorrow.

What are your thoughts on the new iPad 2? Is there anything you are desperately hoping to see?
