HTC Merge Hands On At Last: First Look – with video

We’ve been bringing you news on the HTC Merge coming to Verizon and yesterday brought you the news that at last the phone had been officially announced and was due for release in the spring. Now we have a hands-on video for you to view, showing this impressive device.

We’ve already given you details of accessories and some Best Buy listings and not only is it a CDMA World Phone but the Merge also has a 3.8-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture, integrated GPS and WiFi connectivity. The HTC Merge slider phone is a smartphone that will run on Android 2.2 OS as well as using the HTC Sense UI on top, according to Mark Hachman over on PCMag.

There’s more to see now though as Nilay Patel over on Engadget tells of a first hands-on look at the HTC Merge along with a video which you can see below this story. Patel notes that although Verizon has not been officially confirmed yet as a carrier, the Verizon-red earpiece along with the search button do seem to give the game away. There’s also a good selection of images of the hands-on at the Engadget link if you want to see more.

From the hands-on look we reckon this seems like a decent smartphone although it’s a shame it took rather a long time coming. Maybe it’s a case of better late than never! What are your thoughts on the HTC Merge? Why not let us know with your comments.
