Apple OS X Lion: What New Features Can We Expect?

As you all know the new MacBook Pro has just been announced, and the only thing that could make this amazing machine a lot sweeter is a kick ass operating system. With this in mind we thought we would bring you some information on what new features we can expect to see from Apple OS X Lion.

According to this post from Cnet.com along with their announcement of the new MacBook range, Apple also confirmed that they are one step closer to the launch of Mac OS X Lion. As of yesterday those who are members of Apples Mac Developers Program were able to get their hands on this new OS, this will give them time to create programs before it’s released in the summer.

One of the biggest changes to this installment of the new OS X is something called Launchpad, this feature will incorporate an applications folder facility like what we see on IOS. So you no longer need to have all your apps (which can be downloaded from the Mac App Store) hidden away deep inside your computer, just one click on the Launchpad icon will disperse all your open windows and leave you with ,a full screen display of all your current apps.

Another great feature that we think could be the best one is called resume, this facility will allow users to pick up from where they left off. Whenever you need to restart your Mac now you have to go through a very frustrating turn of events. Saving all your work, closing down your apps then having to spend more time setting everything back up again, Resume will allow you to restart and pick up from where you left off.

One of the last key features that we are going to talk in depth about is Mission Control, this facility is very similar to Expose which is already available on the Mac. With this new feature you can get a bird’s eye view of everything currently running on your computer, this will include full-screen apps and Dashboard. These running programs will show up in full screen in a unified view that groups all open windows together.

There are many other features available for Mac OS X Lion these include Auto Save, Versions, Mail 5 and Airdrop. You can read more on the features we have posted about, as well as the other we have just listed by following this link over to Apples official page, to see a video of this OS in operation scroll down to the bottom of this post.

We can’t wait for the release of this new OS, with some really handy new features and time cutting solutions we expect this well welcomed update will be a huge success. As always Apple has succeeded in getting us all excited, the pinnacle of this excitement will hopefully be the launch of the iPad 2 on March 2nd.
