Motorola Xoom: Adobe Step Up With Flash Player 10.2 Coming Soon

The Motorola Xoom other than the Apple iPad 2, will no doubt be one of the most talked about tablet devices of this year. This is not saying that for one moment others due to hit our shelves in the coming months will be equally if not better than these 2, take the PlayBook from Research in Motion, the HTC Flyer, LG’s Optimus Pad and so on.

But is the Xoom about to take a turn for the worse? Debbie here at OSM reported that although the tablet is set to release on Thursday 24th February, yes that’s right, a matter of days, it has already come up against a problem, of which could result in potential buyers walking into a different direction. News yesterday came in that the Xoom will release but without the support for Flash content, a big deal to some people.

Putting all of this to one side for just one second, the guys over at Slashgear have updated this news by saying that Adobe have promised an imminent OTA update delivery Flash Player 10.2 in the coming weeks. Although an official date to this was not announced, Adobe’s Matt Rozen said, “Adobe will offer Flash Player 10.2 pre-installed on some tablets, an as an OTA download on others within a few weeks of Android 3.0 Honeycomb devices becoming available, the first of which is expected to be the Motorola Xoom.”

With a new Flash in place, the Xoom will then benefit from a “full web experience,” something of which is expressed from Adobe. As well as this, the digital media company is hoping to raise its number of Flash enabled devices from 132 million by the end of 2011. Interestingly enough as The Inquirer stated, with Flash player installed already onto tablet devices, users will not be wasting time downloading from Android’s app store.

As Slashgear pointed out, if you take this on board, the updated support should be with us by the middle of next month. So what will this mean for sales of the Xoom? If this transpires, then where will this leave the tablet with regards to other competition?

Let us know your feelings towards this? Will you still be getting your Xoom or now waiting to see what pans out?
