Kinect Hacked Examples: Working With iPhone & iPad

When it comes to the Xbox 360 Kinect, we have been hearing lots of different things about it. This is the device that in Q2 certainly helped carry Microsoft along. We have also recently been looking at the different approaches that Sony and Microsoft have been taking when it comes to hacking.

This has all sprouted since Microsoft announced that the SDK would be available as a free download onto Windows. With the SDK being made available in spring, we are pretty sure that the world will start to see all sorts of innovative ways of using the Kinect technology and quite frankly, we are looking forward to it.

We have seen a couple examples of users that have already hacked the Kinect and started using it for things other than gaming as well as coupling it with the Apple devices. The first video at the end of the article shows the iPad working in conjunction with the Kinect device as well as the user’s movements appearing on a laptop screen, it’s pretty inventive.

The second video shows a dodgeball style game and it was shown on Engadget earlier this week, this video sees the Kinect hacked again but this time working with and iPad and an iPhone simultaneously. All pretty impressive but just a sign of things to come. There are loads of different videos that have been uploaded where the Kinect has been hacked, click here to see some more.
