Motorola Xoom Best Buy Pre-Orders Today: 24th February Release

Well we have waited for Motorola’s answer to the iPad, and now it seems that we can ignore price and release date rumors and concentrate on getting our hands on the Xoom.

According to Engadget, with a release date of the 24th of this month, we are just days away. In preparation to this, Best Buy is offering the opportunity to pre-order the 10.1-inch slate from today. Although on the Best Buy’s site the Xoom is showing back-order, customers wishing to grab the first of the devices in 4 days time, can go in store to place their pre-order.

Priced at $800, the 3G model features Android 3.0 Honeycomb, dual-core processor and front and rear facing cameras. As a direct challenger to the iPad crown, Motorola didn’t waste anytime getting the Xoom into production. It only seems the other day that we reported on its appearance, and now we are just days away from an official shelf release.

For those ready to purchase the new device, Tablets Planet confirm Best Buy is also offering some accessories to dress your Xoom. At the bottom end of the price range you can pick up a portfolio case for $40, up from this is the $50 basic charging dock. You then have the option of a Bluetooth keyboard at $70, with a stereo speaker dock slipping in at $130.

We are still waiting the arrival of the lower priced Wi-Fi only Xoom which should come in $200 less. It was said that it would follow not far behind the 3G model so we will keep our eyes peeled for its appearance.

Tell us if you will be going in-store to pre-order your Xoom, or are you willing to wait until Thursday?
