Samsung & LG’s Television Sales Prospects

When it comes to televisions almost every household has one or more of them inside. With the way technology is moving forward you would expect the large brands to perhaps lower the price of the ‘older’ models and keep them raised for the new ones.

With Samsung and LG who are two of the biggest TV makers who were both present at CES 2011 with a heap of new designs show casing their new lineups for this year. We saw the LG NANO Full LED TV’s which we reported on and if you missed it you can read it by clicking here.

Samsung also showcased a beautiful looking TV as a late addition to the event, we also looked at the different approaches that LG and Samsung have for 3D viewing. We now wanted to inform you of both of these companies’ projected sales figures for 2011. Engadget’s Nilay Patel is reporting that Samsung are planning on selling 10 million 3D TVs which is 5 times the amount they managed in 2010 and LG are planning on selling 5 million.

According to Kelly Olsen of usatoday.com says that whilst both manufactures have been marketing 3D TVs aggressively, their sales haven’t matched their efforts and have been less than impressive. This is mainly because of the glasses that you have to wear and of course the lack of 3D content.

Do you think these manufacturers will manage to reach their targets? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
