Child Friendly Tablet PC: The LeapPad – Early iPad Training

We thought 2011 was going to be the year of the tablet PC and we were right. Back at CES 2011 we saw more than 50 tablets alone, between then and the beginning of MWC we saw a few more. With MWC 2011 packing up until next year we have heard about another tablet pc.

Our thoughts were re-affirmed when we started to see technology for younger audiences, earlier this week OSM’s Maddy Rowe reported on the VTech 5” LCD ‘InnoPad’ which was designed specifically for the younger audience. The new one we have seen is a Child Friendly Tablet PC called The LeapPad.

We are wondering how many of you out there with kids have iPads and if you do, how often do you get asked ‘Mummy/Daddy, can I play on your iPad’ to which you reply swiftly with ‘NO’. This device is aimed at helping children to learn more effectively and if that’s the case then I’m all for it! This could be seen as the early days training to build up to an Apple iPad.

As Pocket-Lint’s Paul Lamkin says in his article, the device has a camera which is capable of recording. Now onto the important part of the device, how much wonga will you need to pick one up? Well the device is priced at a very reasonable rate of $99.99. Over at PRNewsWire, they mention the durability and educational benefits.

Would you get a tablet PC for your child? Don’t you think it’s a good idea for younger kids to get involved with Technology for the future? Let us know in the comments below.
