Dell Tablets 2011: Leaked Roadmap Reveals New Lineup

There’s some interesting news today for those of you who’d like to know about new Dell tablets for 2011 and into 2012, with a leaked roadmap revealing all. Not only that but there are also details of operating systems that have not yet been officially announced.

We’ll give you the codenames that are on the roadmap but of course those may not be the actual names they are released with. We heard this news from Sean Hollister over on Engadget, sourced from Android Central. The first tablet on the roadmap looks set to be released by around April and that’s the Gallo, which looks as though it will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. There’s also a Gallo ‘handwriting update’ due around October.

The Dell Streak 7 update appears to be coming in July and the Rosemount, which is a 10-inch Windows 7 slate is due around June. This is listed as having a 1366 x 768 resolution. There’s also a device called the Sterling due in October, which will also be running on Honeycomb.

Then looking ahead to January 2012 (CES 2012 anyone!), the roadmap shows an Opus One and also a Silver Oak both using Honeycomb. Significantly the Peju also appears in January 2012, which is listed with the Windows 8 OS. Of course all of this is open to change and some of these tablets may not materialize at all but it’s a pretty good bet that Dell have not produced this roadmap for nothing.

An article over on Cnet by Josh Lowensohn about the leaked roadmap, reports that Microsoft has not made any official announcement about the next Windows operating system or what it may feature and that the last info from Microsoft came out of CES 2011 when it announced plans to support ARM architecture which would allow its OS to run on more devices.
