Acer Windows Phone 7 Devices Coming Autumn

Following on from its recent success at MWC with its Iconia phone and Tablet PC range it would seem that Acer have no plans on slowing down just yet, it appears that we can also expect to see a range of Acer Windows Phone 7 devices to hit us in time for autumn.

As we all know Nokia have already taken up this partnership with Microsoft to bring WP7 to their range of handsets, but now according to recent news the Taiwanese giant could be going head to head with Nokia in the Windows Phone 7 market.

According to this post from Slashgear Speculation was first aroused when a LinkedIn profile from a Microsoft hardware manager was leaked. In this profile the employee stated that they had taken part on the “Acer M900 WP7 Phone Program”. This program involved such things as “plan, design reviews and hardware verification of Acer phone to [sic] enable WP7 keyboard, touch, and sensor drivers.”

Following this speculation a Spokesperson from Acer has confirmed to the guys over at Pocket-Lint that they would be jumping on the WP7 bandwagon, it’s understood that they plan to have either a September or October launch. If this launch goes to plan this would fall nicely with the big WP7 update (codenamed Mango) which is due out around the same time, to read more on this follow the link over to this post by Paul Lamkin.

If this partnership also happens we could potentially see the ongoing Smartphone war being taken up a step, which could see us all argue over not who has the best OS but who delivers it better to us on their devices.

Do you think this is the right step for Acer to take?
