Quad-core NVIDIA Tablet PC: Codename – Kal-el With Video

Here’s something to get excited about, NVIDIA have a tablet PC at MWC 2011 running with a quad-core CPU on an Android OS. Why is this exciting? Well we are expecting the processors to be in devices from NVIDIA by August this year and with 4 cores running in a single device it opens up multiple opportunities.

If you think about it, what does quad-core mean? It means there are 4 cores running at the same time which means that whatever your device is doing the battery life should be more effective as you can run the cores at a lower voltage and because they will all have more of a rested state. Another advantage is that any and every application will run quicker and more efficiently.

Phandroid’s Rob Jackson reports that just as we are getting into dual-core processing in mobile devices NVIDIA are making leaps and bounds towards quad-core. As the representative says in the video at the bottom of the article, the device is already in the hands of some gaming developers.

It’s brilliant that NVIDIA stick with its roots of gaming and working with developers especially when you think of the stress a high graphic game and what it does to the system. These chips should be able to cope with a heck of a lot when they are finished. Make sure you head over to NVIDIA’s blog to have a read about it. It’s pretty amazing don’t you think? Also make sure you check out both videos at the bottom of the article.
