HTC Flyer Price News: Better than some others

We’ve seen some great new devices coming from MWC 2011 so far and one of the most interesting is the HTC Flyer, a 7-inch high-end tablet powered by a 1.5GHz processor. There’s been a lot of very positive things said about the Flyer so far and we’ve already posted several articles that you can check out for more details such as the Flyer entering the tablet arena, a look at the OnLive gaming feature on video and a comparison with the iPad.

The Flyer will be released in early Q2 and also comes with the clever addition of a pressure-sensitive stylus so many people are avidly looking forward to it’s arrival and it’s thought it could viably compete against other upcoming tablets such as the Motorola Xoom, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the iPad 2. Although we’ve heard of specs and an approximate release date, so far we had heard nothing about the price of the HTC Flyer and this could be a real deciding factor in its success.

Over then to an article by Tim Stevens on Engadget who reports that a price for the HTC Flyer has been revealed on the German Amazon site. The Flyer is listed at €669 so if you subtract German V.A.T. and convert this price it comes out at around $730 but this could be less as prices are generally less for the U.S. market. Whilst that’s not exactly cheap we should remember this is a high-end device and by comparison with speculated prices for other upcoming tablets it should still be able to compete.

If you want to find out more about the full specs for the HTC Flyer then check out another article also on Engadget, this time by Vlad Savov, which not only includes a comprehensive list of specs but also shows a hands-on video. If the Flyer turned out to be around $700 then, would you pay this price for it? Do you think that’s reasonable for a tablet with such good specs? Let us know with your comments please.
