Sonim XP3300 Force: The Most Rugged Phone In The World?

When it comes to rugged devices, we have certainly brought you a few. One of them was back in December 2010 when we reported on some of the tough gadget gifts that just keep going; another was back at CES 2011 we saw the ioSafe hard drive being shot by a shotgun and an assault rifle.

Now we have caught wind of a new rugged mobile phone, which is claiming insane ruggedness, it’s the Sonim XP3300 Force, but is it the most rugged phone in the world? If you think about it, there’s a real market for this sort of phone, think about how many builders and laborers there are in the world.

If you think back to previous versions of the device then you will know that it can certainly withstand a heck of a lot more than your standard drop test… The Sonim XP1300 managed to withstand being dropped into a bucket of anti-freeze and still came out wanting more!

As most modern day phones do, it has a camera with 2 megapixels and an LED flash, the LED lights can also be used as a torch, it has quite a few other specs so check them out from the Sonim official website and you can also read through the press release. If you would like to learn more about it then check beneath the first video for another video of one of their devices, towards the end of the video you see the reported Jim Boulden of CNN actually hammering a nail using the screen without leaving a mark! You can also check out Engadget’s article where they also mention about the temperatures that it can withstand.

Something that we haven’t mentioned that is a pretty good selling point, the crazy amount of talk time you have on the device. It has up to 18 hours of talk time / 2 months on standby, pretty amazing don’t you think?
