LG Optimus 3D First Impressions: Hands-on

Anybody who loves tech stuff will know that MWC 2011 kicked off today in Barcelona. One of the devices we expected to see was the LG Optimus 3D phone and we had already given you some idea of what was coming with a leaked video. Yesterday we then gave you the news on official specs and features for the 3D phone and then earlier today we gave details of an LG link up with YouTube for its much-hyped phone.

It certainly looks as though LG has found a niche in the smartphone market with this 3D phone, which also has a dual-core processor with four times more video decoders as competing phones and 4.3-inch WVGA display. However although the specs look impressive we couldn’t wait to hear of a hands-on preview with the Optimus 3D and that comes courtesy of Sean Cooper over on Engadget. There’s even a video of the hands-on available at the link although of course you won’t be able to enjoy the same 3D effect.

Cooper has been lucky enough to get the hands-on experience of the LG Optimus 3D at Barcelona and starts by saying that yes it may be slightly “kitschy” but it’s fun just the same. Cooper has seen the glasses-free Optimus 3D display take on games and films and the 3D effect was persuasive along with the UI. The ability to capture 3D video via the dual-cameras and then play it back via HDMI on your 3D TV received special praise. The high-end device, although large, is still comfortable and is made of top-end materials.

There are more pictures on Cooper’s article so to see more hit the Engadget link above. For another hands-on opinion you may want to check out an article by Chris Davies on Slash Gear where you can also see another video.
