Social Media Week 2011: BBC Sport In Attendance

Social Media Week 2011 happened in several locations this year; it debuted back in 2009 starting out in NYC with only a few thousand people partaking in the events with thousands more online. This year there were even more locations.

A real range of companies and brands go to this event and now we have been reading reports that BBC Sport attended social media week 2011. Some of you may be wondering why they would be there, but the answer is simple. Everything is moving towards social media and social networking, sport is no different.

You only have to look at the way the UFC has been showing some of their undercard fights on Facebook to realize where things are going. How long will it be until all sports follow suit? At social media week BBC Sport featured on February 9th. They held a two-hour session in London. In the first hour they addressed sport and social media whilst in the second hour they focused on what part social media will play in the BBC’s coverage on the London 2012 Olympics.

If you missed any of it and want to catch up, then you can as Lewis Wiltshire says in his article over on the BBC website. If you want to watch the whole thing then you can watch it by clicking here.
