Smartphone Transforms Into Tablet: LG Triptych Smartphone

As we all know, the competition in the smartphone and tablet markets are extremely competitive, especially when we have seen more than fifty showcased at CES 2011. God only knows how many tablets and smartphones will surface at MWC 2011, which is kicking off in the next few days.

With all that in mind, enter the LG Triptych. This is a hybrid concept device created by Edward Hale fitting between the two markets. Slashgear’s Rue Liu has reported on the device saying that the device features three screens that fold back behind each other.

This comes soon after the partnership of Kyocera and Sprint to make the Echo, which is a dual-touchscreen phone that was announced recently. Hale’s concept goes a bit further though by offering a third screen!

The original source reporting on the cool, sleek device is designbuzz.com, their author Neha Saraiya says within the article that it’s on the Android platform and that it has certainly gained some attention. Could a concept device like this ever take off?
