HTC Thunderbolt Official Launch Date Confirmed?

When it comes to the HTC Thunderbolt, we have heard so many different things about this device since it was first announced. We have seen numerous release dates flying around with reasons as to why it’s being delayed.

One reason was to do with the Verizon iPhone and how they didn’t want the HTC Thunderbolt to be overshadowed by the mass sales of the much anticipated device on ‘Big Red’. We have however also seen the beast being unboxed. Now after all of the confusion, the HTC Thunderbolt has apparently been given the confirmed official launch date of February 24th.

What we are wondering now, is will this be able to compete in today’s market and then what will happen when the HP Palm Pre 3 is released? Not to mention the iPhone 5 which, if Apple stick to their normal annual refresh will be coming in June.

Over at intomobile.com their author Will is reporting that he has heard from a reliable source that it will in fact be launched on the 24th, BGR’s Jonathan S. Geller is also reporting that they have heard from their sources the same date. After all of this was written, Android Central added an article which links to their forum where the below message is displayed.

How lucrative do you think this date is? Are you looking forward to getting the HTC Thunderbolt? Let us know in the comments section below.

I talked to a Best Buy rep today, asking about the release date. He got on the phone with the Rep office who told him, "14th." I think I'll trust a Best Buy rep over some forum poster.

I talked to a BB Mobile Rep 15 seconds ago. When I preordered on Super Bowl Sunday they told me to come pick it TODAY (the 12th). NOW he told me they'll call me back whenever, and that I won't be getting it until the "official" verizon date.

This blog guy seems to know what he's talking about. Though, to me he's not "official".

Verizon WTF? I should say f-it and go get a free G2 from T-Mobile today for this.

If I had a dollar ever time some nitwit moderator on a forum said something completely wrong, I'd be worth millions. Maybe this guy is right, but if he is he just got somewhat lucky with his guess.

    Nobody knows the release date.

And that is sad, and reflects poorly on Verizon.
