Football January Twitter Trends: Infographic Bears All

Online social networking site Twitter has been a hive of activity in the last few weeks, in regards to the world of football. We have brought you reports of Twitter fan reactions to player transfers, fines, Manchester Utd/England player “Ferdinand” showing his praise for Arsenal players Fabregas and Nasri, as well as his reactions to Keys and Gray.

The list carries on in earnest, but today its an infographic kindly sourced from Pocketlint, that outlines the way in which footie fans have tweeted during the month of January, particularly the rise seen around the transfer deadline day.

Barclays Premier League have analysed the data using “Sysomos‘ Media Analysis Platform (MAP) to highlight what teams and cities steered towards the popular site last month. When you look at the infographic set out below, you will see that a staggering million or so footie fans tweeted about the Barclays teams.

In terms of hashtag(s) used 7,482 people used the #transferdeadlineday, followed by #torres and thirdly #cfc, and as listed in the information, over a quarter of tweets came from the capital city London.

In terms of teams which is no doubt the one thing you are itching to find out about, Liverpool came top with a jaw dropping 301,169 tweets purely based on as Pocketlint stated, Carroll and Torres comings and goings.

The Gunners (Arsenal) came second with 110,901 tweets and third place being taken by Chelsea with 97,655.
