T-Mobile Free Phones Valentine’s Gift Offer: It’s the real deal

We’ve already posted some ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts, and also given you details of a mobile app called “Thoughtful” designed to help people give appropriate gifts. However with Valentine’s Day 2011 fast approaching what could be better than a gift that’s totally free.

If you think that this sounds too good to be true, it really is a genuine offer from T-Mobile in the U.S. This Friday February 11 and Saturday February 12, T-Mobile has a promotion offering completely free phones from a choice of 30 in its inventory, according to Stan Schroeder over on Mashable, with the proviso of a two-year contract, which seems fair enough to us.

Before you automatically assume the phones on offer are only lower-end devices let me tell you this offer is the real deal with some genuine higher-end handsets included in the promotion such as the HTC HD7 and Samsung Vibrant. The HTC HD7 for example is usually $499 so that’s quite some saving. Theses offers are only available in-store but if you can’t get down on Friday or Saturday there are still online offers through Valentine’s Day on some phones only. If you choose the HTC HD7 online for example the price will be $99 but it’s still a saving on the usual price.

You can see details of the promotion at the T-Mobile page here but remember the best offers are in-store. Michelle Castillo over on TIME also reports on the T-Mobile promotion and informs us that the last time T-Mobile ran such an offer (Father’s Day 2010) the company gained 110,000 new customers. We can’t help wondering if this is a deliberate ploy by T-Mobile to take away attention from the Verizon iPhone 4 release on February 10, but whatever way you look at it this is a good deal.

Is it enough to make you think again about purchasing a Verizon iPhone? We’d like to know what you think about this Valentine’s promotion from T-Mobile so please send in those comments.
