ViewSonic ViewPad 4 With Android 2.4: Honeycomb Apps Compatible

ViewSonic has certainly been making strides with its devices; back at CES 2011 we first caught a glimpse of the Viewpad 4. CES 2011 was the first opportunity to really see one in the flesh and really touch one.

One of the really interesting parts in an article written on pocket-lint.com by their author Stuart Miles details about Android 2.4. That’s right… Android 2.4 and the name of this will continue to be Gingerbread.

If you are like us you will be wondering what sort of updates are in place for 2.4 Gingerbread, well it looks like the only change to the OS is going to be the integration of compatibility for using apps on single-core devices that are normally only Honeycomb compatible apps. So is this Google rectifying a previous mistake, like a cover up or do you think it was planned to be this way?

Getting back to the ViewSonic ViewPad 4, this nifty little device is going to have HD 720p video recording, mini-HDMI output, flash 10.1 a 4.1” screen, Bluetooth, WiFi and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus. You can read more about the specs of the device over at phonearena.com.

Are you excited about the new ViewPad 4? It looks pretty nifty to us. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
