We have some more interesting news for you regarding the highly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia Play or in more simple terms, the Playstation Phone.

The smartphone and handheld games console hybrid has been confirmed today to be coming to network provider O2, who announed it on their Twitter feed earlier. Cnet has reported an O2 official as saying: “Awesome news — the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is coming to O2.” We brought you the news earlier that the phone would be fully unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event on February 13 at 6:00pm GMT.

During the event the full specs will be revealed, although we do know that the device runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. According to Tech Watch the phone has been made available on Vodafone aswell. This is not the last we are going to hear of providers trying to stock the Play. O2 did not confirm that they had exclusive rights to the phone so over the coming weeks we will bring you more news on other providers offering the new Xperia.

This is the first of 2 major phones that Sony Ericsson has coming out in the next few months. Don’t forget about the beautifully thin Xperia Arc which will be making an appearance in around April.
