iPhone 5 Launch: Will likely be at WWDC between June 5 & 9

Since the beginning of the year it seems that all attention in the tech world has been turned towards the next-generation iPhone, or the Apple iPhone 5. Even though this week sees the iPhone 4 come to Verizon at last, we’re already looking ahead. We’ve posted many stories on iPhone 5 speculation and rumors and just some of our recent posts have included NFC payment rumors, a roundup of what features to expect and a look at some improvements that could be made.

We also recently wrote about our expectations of a release date in June or July, something that will not surprise iPhone enthusiasts as the next iPhone is traditionally unveiled at Apple’s WWDC every year. This usually takes place in June and it seems as though there’s every possibility that the iPhone 5 will be launched at WWDC again this year as we now have news that it will be held between June 5 and 9, according to John Brownlee over on Cult of Mac, sourced from Apple Bitch.

WWDC is held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and Apple has apparently now booked June 5th to June 9th. Although the calendar listing shows merely a “Corporate Meeting,” Brownlee informs us that this terminology is usually used for Apple events, by Moscone Center management. There’s also more speculation that another booking for “Corporate Meetings/Events” on May 10th and 11th could be for an iPad 2 launch, although that seems a little late to us after previous rumors led us to believe it may be released in April.

The dates of June 22nd and 23rd are also listed as “Corporate Meetings/Events” on the schedule of the Moscone Center and although Brownlee believes this to be too close to the dates of WWDC to be of major importance, he does point out that this almost ties in to the anniversary of the iPhone 4 release. Seth Weintraub over on 9to5Mac, sourced from Setteb.it , also notes the dates for WWDC at Moscone West, shows us the schedule and points out that the likely date for the keynote speech (which sadly this year may not be presented by Steve Jobs), is June 6th.

Are you already waiting with anticipation for the Apple iPhone 5? Do you think Apple may still have some surprises for us? Why not let us know by sending us your comments.
