HTC Desire 2 Release Imminent: Capacitive Not Tactile

Those HTC fans among you will remember how popular the HTC Desire was, following some leaked photos online it appears there is a successor in the pipeline. In amongst the leaked pictures there was a snapshot of the Desire 2 showing up on Vodafone Germany’s inventory system ( To see these pictures follow this link over to Engadget.com). With news like this it seems pretty imminent that we are going to be seeing the HTC Desire 2 hitting our shelves soon.

After having a quick browse of these images it appears that HTC have decided to remove the tactile buttons and replace them with capacitive ones. There is still speculation about this handsets feature list, but from these snaps over at Gsmarena.com you can make out what could possibly be an 8MP camera with LED flash as well as a front facing camera. We believe that this handset will be running on Android Froyo 2.2.1, but are wishing that it may be released just in time have the updated Gingerbread OS.

We hope the change of buttons from tactile to capacitive will allow more space for the much speculated AMOLED screen, so although this is running the latest version of the Sense UI this would be compensated to the user by having a very crisp display to view it on.

As this handsets predecessor was such a big hit and was released almost exactly a year ago, we can only assume that this update of one of the most popular releases by HTC will be approaching soon time very soon.

Will this handset be the one for you?
