Google White Nexus S Available At Vodafone UK: iPhone 4 Contender?

If at this present time you are making a decision to purchase a new smartphone, but are holding out in the hope that you will be enticed by something a little different, then today’s news might be just the ticket? For news has filtered through of the Google Nexus S handset being available from Vodafone, and we are not just talking about an overall black colour either, its a white version that has grabbed our attention.

As well as Vodafone being the first retailer to stock the white model in the next few months, it will also be the first European carrier. The Samsung Nexus S came to the attention of some customers just before Christmas last year, when it could be seen as an unlocked version throughout Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse stores.

As pocketlint.com reported today, although the news is stating a white handset, some have questioned as to whether the device will incorporate this colour all over, pictures are leading some to believe the back panel is white, with the front being of a black glossy finish. As dialtosave.co.uk reported, the specifications listing will remain the same, with the 4-inch Contour display Nexus S running on Android 2.3 OS, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel webcam, Near Field Communication (NFC), 16GB of internal storage, and 3G/WiFi connectivity.

Following on with a statement from Vodafone’s Group Director of Terminals “Patrick Chomet” he said, “It’s great news that our customers will very soon be able to get Google’s Nexus S direct through our stores. At Vodafone we work closely with our partners across the industry to offer our customers a leading smartphone range that includes the latest innovations in product and user experience”.

At this stage, no official date or price has been announced from Vodafone, although the guys over at techradar.com have stated that it may retail for £30 per month on a 2-year deal, but who knows, it may well beat Apple’s white iPhone 4 to retailer shelves.

What are your thoughts on the new white Nexus S version? Will you be tempted? Are you currently a Vodafone customer?
