Christina Aguilera’s Super Bowl Performance: Slated Via Social Media

One of the biggest events on the American calendar commenced on the 6 February, yes that’s right, the Super Bowl XLV taking place in North Texas. The 2 teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers took on the might of one another with the packers winning, but alongside this, it was a chance for many celebrity acts to take to the stage to accompany the start of the much anticipated season.

Although the entertainment line up had some of the biggest names in TV and music, it was the pop sensation Christina Aguilera that has unfortunately been the talk on everybody’s lips today, consequently with the internet seeing a hive of activity. The star who sang the National American Anthem forgot the fourth line of the lyrics. As reported, it is still unclear as to why she forgot the words, its not as if she hasn’t performed in front of thousands of people before.

The line of “O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming,” was replaced with Aguilera’s version of “What so proudly we watch’d at the twilight’s last reaming.” As well as this, the second line was reported to also be a disaster. In response to this as the reported the star said, “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

In this day and age, social media sites are increasing and the way in which they are used to communicate with their users. This year’s Super Bowl event has been no exception, what with advertisements for iOS and Android game Angry Birds, Motorola’s forthcoming Xoom tablet, location-based Foursquare and its “Super Bowl Sunday” bringing in a staggering 200,000 + check-in’s, or just somewhere for fans to leave their reactions to the game on Twitter.
