iPads For Room Service In The Plaza New York

We all like a short break, the thought of booking into a top class hotel and relax in the comfort of what 5 star accommodation brings is one of life’s pleasures.

One such hotel that can provide you with this upper class feeling The Plaza hotel in New York. As BGR reported this 5 star palace can now offer that something extra that will make your stay even more relaxing.

The Plaza has now introduced iPads in every suite and room to handle every duty that the hotel can offer. Doing away with the normal procedures, the iPads can control functions within the room its self, such as lights and air conditioning/heating controls. You will also be able to contact the concierge, request a wake up call, order room service and book a table in the restaurant for dinner.

According to Luxist, the general manager of The Plaza wasn’t happy with the old system as it, “wasn’t sophisticated enough for what we wanted to do” adding that they “chose the iPad because it is a great piece of equipment that is here to stay and won’t disappear tomorrow.”

Is there really no end to the tablets uses? With Apple’s iPad moving forward into nearly every part of our lives will we start to see it being introduced into other hotels, restaurants and even supermarkets? Give us your thoughts.

A very clever move for Plaza seeing as US companies are estimated to spend more on travel in 2011 than they did last year ( corporate travel was up 49% last year compared to 2009 at their Colorado Springs Hotel Interestingly.) Training sessions, functions and conferences are a huge market for the hotel industry and I'm sure adding Ipad's will be a real attraction to executives.
