Facebook Celebrates 7 Years: What Will The Future Hold?

Whether you are a Facebook user or not, the fact of the matter is, that social networking site Facebook has and is attracting a huge following, and today we can report that it is in fact celebrating its 7th birthday. Over 600 million of you have accessed the site when figures were looked at in January of this year. As well as CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his site enjoying the success, it has at times had its fair share of negativity.

On launching the site back on 4 February 2004, as Pocketlint stated, the aim was to “give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.” During last year, the site came under fire a handful of times in relation to privacy issues and the fact that personal information was unfortunately falling into the wrong hands. Zuckerberg was put under immense pressure to re-assess the way in which Facebook dealt with such problems.

Towards the end of 2010, award winning film “The Social Network” came to our screens depicting the beginnings of the site, how Zuckerberg took the initial idea of Facebook from 3 fellow Harvard students, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saverin, something of which the CEO strongly denies.

To round things off, although Facebook may to some, prove to be more of a hindrance, it has brought many people together that may have lost communication throughout the years, users can join groups of interest, find out about forthcoming events and the best feature of all, is that of photo sharing!

Are you an avid fan of Facebook? Could you live without it? Who knows we may still see Facebook in another 7 years time. Happy Birthday Facebook.
