Motorola Xoom Release Imminent? One man has his

This year has been dubbed ‘The Year of the Tablet’ by many including us, with a glut of new and improved tablets coming out of CES 2011. One of those is the Motorola Xoom which we included in our ‘5 of the best tablets’ from CES, along with the BlackBerry PlayBook and of course the upcoming Apple iPad 2.

Among our many posts were rumored pricing and also an approximate release date and yesterday we told of a Motorola Xoom advert that will appear during this year’s Super Bowl. Now we have news that one lucky person at least, has already got his hands on this much-coveted tablet, according to Vlad Savov over on Engadget. NFL’s Chad Ochocinco spoke via Twitter and also showed a picture, via Twitpic, of the Xoom to prove it, and this will lead many to think the device is ready for an imminent release.

The heat is rising in the tech world now, as this could be a real pointer that we haven’t much longer to wait. The Xoom is a really impressive-looking tablet and will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb on release, an OS that has been designed especially for tablets, and Ochocinco for one, describes it as “pretty awesome” and goes on to warn Motorola that they won’t be getting it back.
