BlackBerry Vs iPhone Sales: RIM Beats Apple

RIM and BlackBerry certainly have a lot going on right now with the BlackBerry PlayBook on its way. The PlayBook has overcome various issues regarding the battery that to be on target for its release in March.

Now we are hearing about BlackBerry sales have apparently bettered that of the iPhone. How and why are the first things that hit us at OSM? According to techradar.com, RIM has managed to outsell Apple in the festive month of December with Christmas sales. This comes as a bit of a shock as Apple has had such dominance in the smartphone market for so long.

Moving onto the how and why? Well they have a couple of devices that have proven to be hits; one of them is the BlackBerry Curve 8520. This is a device that you can pick up for £199 on the Orange network but on a pay-as-you-go deal making it a pretty good budget business solution. The other reason why they did well was the BlackBerry Torch 9800; this smartphone is one that is competing. You can read a couple of reviews for the Torch over at techradar.com by clicking here.

Gareth Beavis of techradar.com reports that the research that was done in the UK was performed from consumer sales channels such as stores and networks, apparently during 2010 RIM occupied 28.2% of all smarthphone sales, but the big change came at Christmas when RIM managed to gain 36% of the Christmas sales as they shifted over 500,000 units.

This has happened for a single month in the UK but this seems like a minor battle in a huge war. Check out the figures found over at eurodroid.com where these stats are on more of a global stage and tell a slightly different story.

BB is ultimately a great device for business. It is completely reliable and usable under all conditions of climate, fast to enter data and fully integrated. And, I think iPhone is also another great revolutionary smartphone device! Just as you said, the top position of BB could only be as a minor battle in a huge war. WAY TO GO!! :)
