NOOK Color Running Honeycomb 3.0 – Graphics Accelerator Working

For those of you who are unaware, we have been keeping a track on the XDA forums on what these clever cats have been up to. So far we have seen a Nexus S overclocked to 1.4GHz, a NOOK Color overclocked to 950MHz and then again later to 1.1GHz.

We then saw that they had managed to get Android Honeycomb 3.0 loaded onto a NOOK Color although not all of the functionality was there. Now we are hearing reports that one of the XDA developers named ‘deeper-blue’ has made further headway with the device and its new OS.

As Engadget’s Vlad Savov rightly points out, the entire core functionality isn’t there yet, but a promising start from Friday has just got better. The developer (deeper-blue) says in his forum post that he ‘hasn’t had time to work on those things yet’ meaning the lack of accelerometer, wlan and sound, but his statement implies that he intends to get them working and we have every faith in him and the other developers. Check out a video of a NOOK Color running Android Honeycomb 3.0 at the end of the article.

Are you as amazed as we are to see such a basic device running such an advanced OS that hasn’t even been officially released yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
