HTC Thunderbolt 4G: Hotspot Disappointment

Following on from our previous post about the promising release date for the HTC Thunderbolt 4G, we would like to bring you a bit more information about what else could be expected upon release. It has come to light that two of the main features of the Thunderbolt 4G (Skype video chat and mobile hotspot) will not actually be available upon release.

Although Skype video chat looks like it will come preinstalled on the handset, users will have to wait to be notified from Verizon before they are able to use it. As for Mobile Hotspot, this feature will initially be unavailable, which leaves us all guessing when it will be accessible to all.

For those who are not familiar with the Thunderbolt, it is the next handset in the current range from HTC due to be released. The thunderbolt boasts some pretty impressive specs such as an impressive 8 MP camera with flash, HD video capabilities, high resolution 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen, 1.3 MP front facing camera and all this running on the 2.2 Android operating system. For a full list of specs and a nice 360 tour of the Thunderbolt, follow this link to the official HTC site.

If you would like to see the Thunderbolt 4G up and running we have an unboxing video, which you can see below this post.

Over at droid-life.com you can see a post by Kellex, who feels that although these features are not yet available, the HTC Thunderbolt will still be one of the best handsets on Verizon.

Do you think the lack of these two features will discourage buyers?
