Facebook Denies Facebook Phone with HTC

For all of you who were beginning to get excited about a partnership between the worlds largest social network and a fairly large cell phone manufacturer in HTC, it’s not going to happen. As you know, Facebook has a huge following of more than 500 million users who are signed up with more than half of them performing daily tasks.

HTC have been pretty instrumental since the launch of the 4G network, they have seen various models such as the EVO Shift and the ThunderBolt. We had heard that there was going to be some details released of an HTC Facebook phone at MWC 2011.

The speculation has been denied by Facebook’s Dan Rose, he is the head of business development, he has said that it is simply a manufacturer that has taken the public APIs and added them into their device in an interesting way. You can read more about this over at Slashgear.com where Chris Davies has written an article by clicking here.

Deja-Vu anyone? That’s right; this isn’t the first time that there has been speculation about a Facebook phone is it? Do you remember last year when there was a similar rumor? Well, as phonedog.com’s Alex Wagner correctly says, these rumors were hammered by the CEO of Facebook himself, Mark Zuckerberg.

Are you surprised or disappointed that the device isn’t going to be coming? What do you think Facebook’s next move is going to be to aid them in expansion? Let us know in the comments section below.
