HTC Flyer: Full Specs Leak – Release Date March?

We’ve got some information today for you on one of HTC’s upcoming tablets, the HTC Flyer, from a specs sheet leak. We gave you some news on this tablet in a previous article but now we have more specs available. The tablet will be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread which may disappoint some hoping for 3.0 Honeycomb, although some feel this is still a possibility, but the good news is it will have a brand new Sense UI, especially designed for tablets.

The news comes to us from Sean Hollister over on Engadget, sourced from Amobil, a Norwegian tech site which seems to be getting all the gen. Apparently the Flyer will have a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor with 1GB of RAM. There will also be a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1024×600 resolution and the Flyer will have HSPA (super-3G).

The picture in our top image could be what it will look like but this is not confirmed. Other features are a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, with 5-megapixel rear camera and 4GB of flash storage, HDMI port and DLNA support and the rumor is that there will be a stylus of some kind. The same source also tells of the HTC Scribe (possible name), a 10-inch LTE tablet due later in the year.

The possible release date is rumored as March for the US and April for Europe. From what we’ve heard now the Flyer is looking pretty impressive and if it comes before the Motorola Xoom, the BlackBerry PlayBook and others due out shortly, it could gain the edge.

Edwin Kee on Ubergizmo also reports on the leaked specs and says they put the Flyer very much in the Samsung Galaxy Tab fold and also feels that T-Mobile could be a likely carrier. What are your thoughts on the HTC Flyer? We’d like to know so feel free to send in your comments.
