Bold 9650 & Curve 3G on Verizon: BlackBerry 6 OS upgrades today

We know how many people look forward to an upgrade to their phones (including us) and today we have good news for those of you who own either a BlackBerry Bold 9650 or a BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 on Verizon, as upgrades will be available within hours now.

The news comes to us from Chris Ziegler over on Engadget, sourced from Verizon, and it means that today you’ll be able to upgrade to the BlackBerry 6 OS. Some of the improvements include universal search and a sleeker UI and you’ll also find RIM’s WebKit-based browser.

You can get the updates either over-the-air or online and the expected time for being able to upgrade is 8pm ET, so not long to wait now. Leslie Horn over on PC Mag also reports on the upgrades becoming available today and reports how the BlackBerry 6 OS was first introduced in August on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 on AT&T.

The new features are especially optimized for devices with touchscreens and it was also pushed out in December on the Bold 9650 and Curve 9330 on Sprint. T-Mobile’s BlackBerry 9780 has also received the update. Are you now drumming your fingers until you can get the update? We welcome your comments so please do send them in.
