Android Set To Offer In-App Payments In Under 2 Months

Goolge has lifted the lid on why in-app payments were not available at the end of last year, and Eric Chou the Android Group Manager has confessed that things got very busy over the Christmas period.

Not to worry though, because the Google boss announced that the in-app payments will be available in the first quarter of 2011, so we should have no longer than 2 months to wait. Cnet has reported Chou as saying: “Developers were busy with their Christmas applications, so we couldn’t get enough feedback”. The Android Manager did not give an exact date for the arrival of in-app payments but at least now we have a good indication.

There has been quite a demand for payments within apps and games, but it is fair to say it is probably not the most important issue on Android’s agenda. Eurodroid has suggested that although in-app payments are a conveinience, nobody will use them.
