AMD Radeon HD 6990 Dual-GPU: What a Whopper

If you’ve been waiting to have a look at the AMD Radeon HD 6990 graphics card then you’re in for a treat. The dual-GPU was flashed about at an Asia Pacific Fusion Tech Day by Matt Skynner, AMD GPU general manager, and what a whopper it is, the GPU not Skynner!

The news came to us from Vlad Savov over on Engadget, sourced from 4Gamer.net, and it seems this new flagship in the world of desktop graphics is due out in the first quarter of this year. Jennifer over on EXPreview, sourced from it.oc, also tells of the dual-core graphics card being shown off and says that although Skynner gave no details about it, it is widely assumed to be the Radeon HD 6990.

It is thought that specs so far include two sets of 1,920 stream processors packing 3840 with 4GB GDDR5 memory, dual-DVI connectivity and 3 mini DisplayPort connectors. Full loaded power consumption is 300W while idle it’s 30W and the release date of February is quoted from EXPreview.
