BlackBerry PlayBook vs iPad 2: Battery Life Ups Potential?

While there has been a lot of talk about Apple’s next gen iPad, BlackBerry’s Playbook has slipped in with a new announcement in a bid to steal some of the wind from Apple’s sails.

As Alan over at PR News reports, the soon to be released RIM tablet follows a claim by Jeff McDowell (the company’s Vice President of Business Marketing), stating that the Playbook’s battery life will be ‘equal’ if not ‘better’ than that of the iPad. This is a change from their previous reports, found by Engadget, that only suggested the same amount of battery capability.

This statement gives the Playbook serious kudos when it comes to offering potential customers something more when they are looking for a tablet. The fact that the BlackBerry will at least match the iPad for power and most likely better it will give buyers more of an incentive when signing on the dotted line.

Potentially the only problem that we can see is that the comparison has had to be made based on the original iPad. Obviously we are yet to see the full specification list for the iPad 2, who knows this may well raise the goal post and put the Playbook back in its place.

So with Apple still keeping the covers on it’s iPad 2’s upgraded internals, and BlackBerry’s Playbook needing to prove its battery power, who do you think will offer the best tablet package?
